Project Description

Training course for teachers of Italian as second language

This course develops the teacher’s ability to plan and deliver lessons autonomously.

BASIC MODULE

This course is deigned for those who intend to teach Italian as a second language professionally. From the beginning, lessons blend analysis of the principal theories of the communicative approach with direct lesson observation and hands-on teaching practice. The ultimate goal is to help trainees develop autonomy in lesson planning, preparation and teaching –as well as in class programming, organization, and management. Trainees work in groups closely monitored by our teacher trainers and attend seminars that emphasize the practical aspects of the profession. At the end of the course, trainees will be able to plan and deliver effective, stimulating and engaging lessons using a variety of activities and teaching materials.

SPECIALIZATION MODULE

The specialization model is designed for those who wish to teach in American universities –either in Italy or in the United States. At the end of this course, trainees participate in internships, which provide 30 hours of experience teaching a regular language course and include a final evaluation by the instructor.
The specialization course is open only to those who have already completed the Basic Module course with Italiaidea. Alternately, prospective trainees can also apply who hold completion certificates from equivalent basic training programs and / or already have significant language teaching experience (Minimum 500 hours of lessons).
